A man who carried on an affair with the pregnant wife of his Marine neighbor has been arrested in Alaska for allegedly killing the woman and dumping her body in a California mine shaft, police said.
Christopher Brandon Lee, 24, was busted Sunday night during a traffic stop in Anchorage, Alaska, where he’d moved just weeks after Erin Corwin, 20, was last seen alive June 28.
Her body was found Saturday on “very remote, very dangerous,” federal land outside Joshua Tree National Park at the bottom of a 140-foot mine shaft, according to prosecutors in San Bernardino County, She was murdered, the coroner ruled, though an autopsy will confirm whether Corwin was three months pregnant, as she'd told friends. Investigators suspect Lee, a married ex-Marine, may have worried the baby was his and hoped to cover up his affair by killing the woman, who was reported missing June 29 by her husband, Marine Cpl. Jonathan Corwin.
